Nanoscale imaging of buried structures via scanning near-field ultrasound holography.
A nondestructive imaging method, scanning near-field ultrasound holography (SNFUH), has been developed that provides depth information as well as spatial resolution at the 10- to 100-nanometer scale. In SNFUH, the phase and amplitude of the scattered specimen ultrasound wave, reflected in perturbation to the surface acoustic standing wave, are mapped with a scanning probe microscopy platform to...
متن کاملSubsurface Raman imaging with nanoscale resolution.
We report on chemically specific, subsurface imaging with high spatial resolution. Using tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, we probe carbon nanotubes buried beneath a host dielectric media. We demonstrate our ability to map and resolve specific vibrational modes with 30 nm spatial resolution for dielectric layers with different thicknesses.
متن کاملSeeing the Invisible: Scanning Near-Field Ultrasound Holography (SNFUH) for High Resolution Sub-Surface Imaging
We have developed a novel scanning near-field ultrasound holography (SNFUH) technique which combines the nanometer-scale spatial resolution of conventional scanning probe microscope (SPM) with the surface and subsurface imaging capabilities [1]. This technique fills the critical void in characterization and investigation of the static and dynamic mechanics of nanoscale systems and address emerg...
متن کاملWavelength-scanning digital interference holography for optical section imaging.
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple digital holographic method that allows reconstruction of three-dimensional object images with a narrow depth of focus or axial resolution. A number of holograms are optically generated by use of different wavelengths spaced at regular intervals. The holograms are recorded on a digital camera and reconstructed numerically. Multiwavelength interf...
متن کاملHomodyne scanning holography.
We have developed a modified version of a scanning holography microscope in which the Fresnel Zone Plates (FZP) are created by a homodyne rather than a heterodyne interferometer. Therefore, during the scanning the projected pattern on the specimen is frozen rather than varied as previously. In each scanning period the system produces an on-axis Fresnel hologram. The twin image problem is solved...
